New! BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer

NEW! BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer

Dull skin! It can affect us all at any time. Many factors such as low fluid intake, bingeing on salty food, marks on the skin from the sun and breakouts, or being in air-conditioning can take away our glow.

If you thought the Dermalogica BioLumin-C range could not get any better? Well, it has!  NEW BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer provides weightless hydration combined with powerful Vitamin C to boost brightness instantly and over time.

The Truth About Vitamin C

For years Vitamin C has been a staple and coveted ingredient to give skin radiance. It does, however, prove to be a challenge for the cosmetic chemist. This is because Vitamin C is one of the most unstable of skin care ingredients and is very quickly oxidised (used up). Recall that Vitamin C serum you may have tried which began with a fresh lemon colour, but soon turned brown with an unpleasant aroma? This is evident of an unstable Vitamin C formulation and consequently, compromised results.

It’s All About Percentage, right?

No it’s not! More importantly, what proves the potency of your Vitamin C product is stability and bioavailability (absorption into the skin). Dermalogica has broken the code by creating a highly stable, bioavailable Vitamin C complex – you’ll find this complex featured in our much-loved BioLumin-C Serum and BioLumin-C Eye Serum.

Vitamin C Taken to The Next Level

BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer stars our highly stable, bioavailable Vitamin C complex, but with the addition of penetration enhancing agents AND re-energising antioxidants that make it possible for the Vitamin C to be recycled. This means maximum potency and skin defence!

Additional Powerful Ingredients for Standout Luminosity

Imagine the best glow ever and it’s yours with Verbascum Thapsus Extract, also known as the Bioluminescence flower which absorbs the energy of UV and reflects it back as bright light. It’s literally a selfie ring for your face! There’re also 5 forms of Hyaluronic Acid, yes 5, to deliver hydration to every level of the skin. And say goodbye to dull, dead skin cells and reveal bright skin with gentle exfoliants Phytic Acid and Pumpkin Enzyme that are also in the incredible ingredient line-up.

How Do I Use BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer?

Simply cleanse, mist (tone), apply your favourite serum and eye cream, (pro tip: opt for BioLumin-C Eye Serum and BioLumin-C Serum for boosted brightness) then smooth 2 – 3 pumps of BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer over face and neck, both am and pm. Of course, be sure to always apply your Dermalogica SPF as your final layer during the daytime.

If you’re on the hunt for more skin glow, then BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer is your answer! Visit any of our Pure Indulgence salons for more information or to try BioLumin-C Gel Moisturizer.

Smart Response Serum

NEW – Smart Response Serum Blog

Skin care just got smarter

Life has become hyper tech driven. From smart technology in our home appliances to self-parking cars, we are surrounded by technology. It was therefore only a matter of time before smart technology entered the world of skincare, and for good reason.

Take a moment to think about your skin…do you feel some days it’s prone to redness or dehydration, then others you notice fine lines or dark spots have appeared? Or perhaps you find all these challenges at the same time on different parts of your face?

Hyper personalisation at its best

If you are nodding your head right now thinking “that’s my skin”, take a moment to imagine how incredible it would be to have one serum that has the ability to monitor your skin, micromanaging every change, even before you know you have it!  Well at Dermalogica skincare as just got smarter with NEW! Smart Response Serum. This next generation serum delivers what your skin needs, where it needs it and when it needs it. It provides a truly personised approach for heathy, balanced skin.

How does it work?

The magic number is 4 with Smart Response Serum.  It features 4 smart actives, targets 4 skin conditions and delivers 4 key benefits, to hyper personalise your skincare regimen.

Each change and challenge our skin experiences gives off its own unique micro signal. Just like how predictive text pre-empts your message when you are texting on your smart phone, the smart actives pre-empt skin changes by detecting micro signals in your skin and responding to these changes.  It’s that smart!

More on the smart actives

With two years in research and development, Dermalogica’s Doctor’s and Biochemists discovered these super intelligent smart actives to target the 4 most common skin conditions:

Redness: Japanese Cornelia cherry detects inflammation in the skin from free radicals and pollution and takes action to reduce redness and calm skin.

Dehydration: Hydrolyzed Beta Glucan detects low levels of critical hydration components in the skin and takes action to boost hydration, while alleviating skin tightness and fine lines from dehydration.

Ageing:  Mannose 6 Phosphate detects first signs of visible ageing and takes action to firm and restore the skin’s vitality.

Hyperpigmentation: Hydrolyzed Wheat Flour detects dullness and dark spots and takes action to brighten and even skin tone.

Smart Response Serum also contains the following actives to support healthy skin:

Olive Oil Ester, Lactic Acid, Squalene, and Microalgae: improve skin texture and support barrier protection.

Hyaluronic Acid: helps to improve the hydrating benefits and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): delivers additional moisturising and brightening benefits to the skin.

Smart Response Serum can be used both morning and night. Apply one pump of the serum onto clean skin and allow one minute for it to absorb before following with your moisturiser and sunscreen (if used in the daytime). If you already have a serum in your routine, you can alternate with Smart Response Serum. As our skin changes more during the day, we recommend using Smart Response Serum in the morning and your other serum(s) at night.

Melting Moisture Mask

NEW! Melting Moisture Mask

A question: Do you feel sensations of tightness, dryness and sometimes irritation on your skin, especially now the cooler months are here? If you are nodding yes, you’re not alone. You and millions of people worldwide struggle with skin dryness, so welcome to this educational piece to bring you the solutions your skin will thank you for!

The Cause

Many things can impact the skin and cause dryness. Firstly, you can blame your parents, as genetics can play a large role by inheriting a skin producing low volumes of barrier lipids and oil.

Our environment can impact the skin with dryness too. Air conditioning, the heating of your home and a crackling fireplace can all reduce humidity in the air, depleting moisture from the skin and compromising the skin’s protective oils.

Furthermore, as the temperature in our climate drops during Autumn and Winter, the temperature of our showers or baths increases, washing away these vulnerable and vital oils in the skin.

The Solution

It’s well known that topically applied moisturising treatments can improve skin dryness. Gels and lotions can add vital moisture (or water) to the skin cells. But to add oils to the skin requires a little more consideration from the cosmetic formulator, to ensure the oils can penetrate into the skin.

Light formulas can’t rise to the challenge of deeply nourishing the skin, yet rich oils tend to solidify at room temperature and have a low penetration level within the skin.

Introducing Dermalogica‘s NEW! Melting Moisture Masque
Imagine a super nourishing solid treatment oil that can melt into the skin when it’s “melting point reaches skin temperature? Well you do not need to imagine as this is what Dermalogica‘s NEW! Melting Moisture Masque has to offer. This unique, ultra-comforting skin nourishing treatment contains a unique Melting Point Complex rich in plant butters, waxes and oils. Mango Seed Butter, Mimosa, Jojoba and Sunflower oils begin as a high viscosity paste, but after smoothing over the skin, soon melt deep into those dry, thirsty skin cells to instantly soften and increase luminosity.

Melting Moisture Masque also contains Linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid, that maintains and restores skins’ lipid barrier, while Vitamin E being a powerhouse antioxidant, neutralises free radicals which lead to premature ageing and irritation.

All these key ingredients condition and smooth providing a sense of nourishment, comfort and relief to a dry skin.

One Unique Advantage
What makes Melting Moisture Masque so unique and nourishing, in addition to the Melting Point Complex, is that it’s a leave on masque. To use, simply apply a pea size product to the fingertips and smooth over a clean skin, allowing the product to melt in. Tissue off excess if needed, or better still, transfer the excess to dry elbows, knees, cuticles and hands. Use Melting Moisture Masque twice a week for the best results.

To create the ultimate skincare remedy for dry skin, pair Melting Moisture Masque with Dermalogica’s Intensive Moisture Cleanser and Intensive Moisture Balance moisturiser.

A final word
For enhanced results increase oils in the diet from nuts and avocado and dressings using olive oil, along with eating fish at least once a week. What’s more, supplements such as Evening Primrose Oil, Chia Seed and Fish Oils can boost lipids internally.

Resist the hot shower call and reduce bathing time to keep skin lipids in balance, and always apply your body cream and face cream within two minutes of bathing.  This traps moisture in the skin cells and ensures maximum absorption of your moisturiser.

Lastly, exfoliate the dry dead skin cells with Dermalogica‘s MultiVitamin Thermafoliant or HydroMasque Exfoliant once to twice a week, which will also aid with increased absorption of Melting Moisture Masque.
